2 minute skating survey [16 Nov 2006|12:20am]
jimperry19
We are a student group at Boston University's School of Management who are desperately trying to finish a project so that we can eat turkey.

One final (ridiculously short!) survey for anyone that is involved in hockey, figure skating, or ice skating of any kind. If you can take this 2 minute survey you will be providing us with a vital piece of information to complete our project. Thanks in advance for your time!

New (very short!) Skating Survey [15 Nov 2006|01:11am]
jimperry19
Hello,

We are a group of students at Boston University who are working on a project that involves the ice skating industry. If you play hockey, figure skate, or skate recreationally, it would be a huge help if you could take two minutes to take this survey for us! The survey is located here: http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/34802/skating.htm

Thank you very much!

Skating project [02 Nov 2006|04:47am]
jimperry19
Hello,

We are a group of juniors at Boston University who are completing a business development project. We’re developing a new product in the ice skating industry. It would be a great help if you could take our five minute survey, located at http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/34802/iceskatingsurvey.htm. One of our requirements is to collect 500 of these surveys so your five minutes means the world to us.

Thank you in advance for the time!

Best regards,

Jim

Can I buy you a drink or would you just want the money? Hi! [08 Oct 2006|04:48pm]

Hello everyone,

My name is Nika and I just started skating this year January 2006.  I'm 16 years old, not exactly the earliest age to begin skating but better late than never!  I'm currently in Freestyle 4, working on more revolutions for my camel spin, more height for my loop, less awkwardness for my toe loop (and they say this jump is one of the easiest, I beg beg beg to differ) and not over-rotating my flips.  I can already do an Axel on land though (hooray!).

So far, I've never been in a competition because I was involved in another commitment (the last one being a musical and current one because of a price increment at the rink that also threatens my continual of lessons).  I've taken ballet and music before, so I hope that helps me to appear more artistic in a competition and leave me to just try to perfect my techinal elements.

If anyone has any tips on skating, that'd be nice and much appreciated!  Thanks.

The sky's the limit!

There was no fan community for her, so I created one, but I can't make layouts or icons so I kind of need help with that...

If you are interested in helping or just want to join, the community is here:

well.. this might get some comments flowing:

bets on for who's going to win the Olympics??

mine:
men: stephane lambiel (i'm obsessed XD)
women: sasha cohen (i think it's her time)
pairs: tatiana totmianina and maxim marinin (names not spelled correctly but unless they fall five times there's no way)
dance: as much as i'd like denkova and saviiski (names again) to win, its gotta be navka and kostomarov

what do you guys think?

New but devoted skater [21 Oct 2005|08:43pm]

Hello all,
I'm new to the skating scene but I have picked up fast. I started on Monday and I can do single and double snow plough stop, skating on each leg seperately and with my right foot I can hold my left leg out straight and go in circles on the right foot (not sure what that is called) and I can just about perfect a bunny hop and those fish thigs. the fish things I can do really really fast :-)

I'm 18 and I take figure skating privately with my coach one on one. I have my own skates (Ripsports RF4's) and I'm so proud of them.

I practice every week day Monday-Friday for 3 and a half hours. This may sound extreme for a begginer but I have plans to work my way really far as far to the top as I can go. 18 I have been told is not too old if I put my heart into it, and I'm a very quick learner. I do ballet which helps with strength and I have wonderful balance so I'm hoping I'll get there.

Any advice or anyone else who knows I you can get far at my age?

Anyway you all seem really cool so just introuducing myself, feel free to add me or whatever! :-)

PS - I'm from the UK (London) and my name is Rebecca :-)

Introduction [09 Sep 2005|03:03am]

Hey, my name is Jesse. I'm new to skating. But, I've always been a huge fan. When I was younger I'd hangout at the skate park all day with my sisters. And we'd come home all black and blue.

Skating for me wasn't all that different compared to rollerblading. Everything was easy, untill I tried to jump. It took me awhile to get down skating backwards again. But, after awhile I was fine.
I'm still kinda stiff. But, I'll get over it. I just can't wait to get back onto the ice.

I've only been skating twice. But, I'm gonna try to take Skating this winter term.
Any tips, advice?

Hmm I went to a test session today...
I tested my Rocker and Tango..
It was my first time testing the tango and i failed. Not a suprise. I was not 2 mad about that. At least i passed my one....
But my fricken rocker this was my 4th time testing it, that is pathetic. I failed. I skated really good too. sdlfkasdf I thought i was going to pass but noo the judges are way to picky and they were picking on things that were not true.

I would hate to just give up. But i really think i am going to quit dance and work on more freestyle.

ahhh i am so depressed now....

I wonder if the judges are even watching. And the only good judge we have of course is that one that i don't have...ergggg

I really need to move up in freestyle, but i need to land my axel but besides that i think im ready to move up. I just dont understand why i cant land it.
